Black Hole Binary Dynamics
نویسنده
چکیده
We discuss a new N-body simulation method for studying black hole binary dynamics. This method avoids previous numerical problems due to large mass ratios and trapped orbits with short periods. A treatment of relativistic effects is included when the associated time-scale becomes small. Preliminary results with up to N = 2.4×10 particles are obtained showing systematic eccentricity growth until the relativistic regime is reached, with subsequent coalescence in some cases.

Probing the Presence of a Single or Binary Black Hole in the Globular Cluster Ngc 6752 with Pulsar Dynamics
The five millisecond pulsars that inhabit NGC 6752 display locations or accelerations that are quite unusual compared to all other pulsars known in globular clusters. In particular PSR-A, a binary pulsar, lives in the cluster halo, while PSR-B and PSR-E, located in the core, show remarkably high negative spin derivatives. This is suggestive that some uncommon dynamical process is at play in the...
متن کاملCompact Binaries in Star Clusters I - Black Hole Binaries Inside Globular Clusters
We study the compact binary population in star clusters, focusing on binaries containing neutron stars and black holes, using a self-consistent Monte Carlo treatment of dynamics and full stellar evolution. We find that the black holes experience strong mass segregation and become centrally concentrated. In the core the black holes interact strongly with each other and black hole-black hole bina...
متن کاملPrimordial Binaries and Intermediate Mass Black Holes in Globular Clusters
We present the first study of the dynamical evolution of a star cluster that combines a significant population of primordial binaries with the presence of a central black hole. We use direct N-body simulations, with a black hole mass of about one percent of the total mass of the cluster. The evolution of the binary population is strongly influenced by the presence of the black hole, which gives...
متن کاملEffects of A Supermassive Black Hole Binary on A Nuclear Gas Disk
We study influence of a galactic central supermassive black hole (SMBH) binary on gas dynamics and star formation activity in a nuclear gas disk by making three-dimensional Tree+SPH simulations. Due to orbital motions of SMBHs, there are various resonances between gas motion and the SMBH binary motion. We have shown that these resonances create some characteristic structures of gas in the nucle...
متن کاملSupermassive black hole binaries in gaseous and stellar circumnuclear discs: orbital dynamics and gas accretion
The dynamics of two massive black holes in a rotationally supported nuclear disc of mass Mdisc = 10 8M⊙ is explored using N-Body/SPH simulations. Gas and star particles are co–present in the disc. Described with a Mestel profile, the disc has a vertical support provided by turbulence of the gas, and by stellar velocity dispersion. A primary black hole of mass 4 × 106M⊙ is placed at the centre o...
